Martin Leroy Miggenburg

January 25, 1950 — September 10, 2022

New Palestine, Indiana

Martin L. Miggenburg “Marty” 72, of New Palestine, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2022 with his family by his side.

He was born on January 25, 1950, in Indianapolis, to John Bugg and Greta Wayman.

Marty was always passionate about sports and was an accomplished athlete. He graduated from Warren Central High School (Indianapolis) in 1968. He broke several basketball records in high school and went on to play basketball in college at Ball State University. He was a founding father of the Sigma Nu Fraternity at BSU and graduated from there in 1972 with a degree in Business Administration.

Over the years Marty was fortunate to work several places that he loved and was able to make lifelong friends along the way. To name a few, he really enjoyed his time working at Wonder Bread, Arthur’s, Marsh and Kroger.

He was a gentle giant that touched so many lives and made the most of every day. He truly enjoyed coaching baseball and basketball, driving a school bus, listening to music, umpiring baseball and organizing family Olympics as well as running NFL Poolhost. Of all the titles he held, there was nothing more important to him than the title of Dad, Papaw and Husband. He was the ultimate family man that would do anything for those he loved. His nine grandchildren were his pride and joy. There was nothing he enjoyed more than watching them grow up and play sports.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Miggenburg; daughter Shannon (David) Burton; Mitch (Becky) Miggenburg; step-children Chris (Anne) Kerr; Nick (Jenna) Kerr, Megan (Caleb) North; Mother of his children Denise Miggenburg; sister Paula Walters (Billy Bob); brother Linny Miggenburg;  brother Bill (Priscilla) Miggenburg; 9 grandchildren: Dane, Drew, Sullivan, Banks, Jackson, Avery, Raelynn, Kennedy and Oakley.
