Martha Mead

Martha F. Mead 94, of Indianapolis passed away September 16, 2012. She was born August 13, 1918 in Clinton County, IN to Curtis & Eliza Wyant. Martha was valedictorian of her class at Martins Ferry Ohio High School. She married Hugh L. Mead in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was a member of The Riley Hospital Cheer Guild which provided various services to Riley Hospital. Martha was very creative and enjoyed doing ceramic work & sewing craft projects for family and friends. Many hours were devoted to genealogy research on the Mead and Wyant families. She and Hugh made excursions to libraries and cemeteries to gather information. Martha is survived by her daughter, Jane, sons, Russell (Judy) of Bedford, TX, and Alan (Mary Kay) of Marina Del Rey, CA, grandchildren, Greg (Maureen) of Phoenix, AZ, Curt (Katie) of Los Angeles, CA, Amanda of Fayetteville, NC, Russell of Irving, TX and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Marli. Calling will be Friday, September 21, 2012 from Noon to 2:00 p.m., with the service starting 2:00 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple . Burial to follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
