Martha Jane Byrd

Martha Jane Byrd, 92, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away February 1, 2022. She was born June 5, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Paul C. and Frieda (Smith) Mundy. Martha Jane was an Executive Secretary at Universal Flavors for over 30 years. She was a member of Business and Professional Women, Mutual Services, West Newton United Methodist Church and was a former member and Choir Director at Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, doing puzzles, reading, spending time with her family and always had a very sweet smile, in fact many referred to her as “Sweet Jane.” She was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Martha Jane is survived by her children, Steven R. (Adele) Byrd, Susan Williams, grandchildren, Donald, Kevin, Sarah, Timmy, Carrie and great grandchildren, Harper, Olivia, Eli, Aidan, Alexis, Jordan, Haylee, Kenzie, and her sisters, Nancy Slade and Diana Simmons. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald R. Byrd, by her sister, Helen Collins, and brothers, Paul, Norman, Ronald, Marvin, Louie and Harold Mundy. Services for Martha Jane will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, 10:00 am at Flanner Buchanan - Decatur Township with visitation there Friday, February 11, 2022 4:00-8:00 pm.
