Martha Thomas Ellis 93, Indianapolis, Indiana, died September 17, 2012. Martha was born to Herman T. and Vida O. Wright on October 9, 1918, in French Lick, Indiana, and was married to William C. "Bill" Ellis on July 19, 1941. She had gone to work for the American Legion upon graduation from high school and worked for the organization until her retirement in 1982; in 1976, she was honored by the Legion in celebration of 40 years of service. In 1991 Martha and Bill made the move to Westminster Village North. Martha enjoyed numerous hobbies, including crafting, decorating, playing cards, shopping, and taking yearly trips to Florida and Las Vegas. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. Prior to the move to Westminster Village, Martha and Bill belonged to Irvington United Methodist Church. Bill Ellis preceded her in death in 2004. Martha is survived by two nieces and three nephews: Stephanie Hildebrand (Franz) of Houston, TX; Rebecca Wright Noot (Peter), Tom Wright (Christy), and Tim Wright (Dianne), all of Indianapolis, IN; Craig Montgomery of Tampa, FL; a special great-niece, Kelly Clague of Nashville, TN; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as lifelong friends Lauretta Schoelkopf and Doug and Joan Strain of Indianapolis. Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, in the Social Hall at the Westminster Village North main building, 11050 Presbyterian Drive, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions in Martha's honor may be made to the COPD Foundation or the Humane Society of Indianapolis. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple.
