Martha Ellen Shirley

Martha Ellen Shirley, 88, of Brownsburg, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012. She was born on September 27, 1923 in Indianapolis to Edward H. and Mary Ann (Harmon) Brown. After high school, Martha earned her Real Estate License, and worked as a Realtor in several states across the country. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and always had a cat by her side. Martha was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Brownsburg. She is survived by her children, Jack B. Shirley, Jr. (Tiresa Parker) and Mary Ann (Neal) Wade; grandchildren, Jeff Shirley, Julie Ward, Amy Simms, Mandy Wade, Bryan Bates; 8 great-grandchildren. Martha is also survived by 9 very special nieces and nephews and her Himalayan Cat, Lily. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. Shirley, Sr.; daughter, Georgia Bates; 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11am. Visitation will be Monday evening at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway from 5 until 8pm. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery.
