Marlene L. Lux, 72 of Carmel, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 with her husband and daughter by her side after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. Marlene was born December 11, 1949 in Marion, IN to Leon Hinkle and Maridean Morrow Hinkle.
Marlene attended Marion HS and graduated summa cum laude from Ball State University. She held several jobs in her working career until her MS diagnosis in 1991. Her last position was as marketing research director at Dun and Bradstreet in New Jersey. She had previously worked at Burke Marketing in Cincinnati, the National Retail Hardware Association in Indianapolis and Marion General Hospital. She attended E. 91st Street Christian Church, where she also served as a Welcome Center volunteer.
Marlene’s favorite activities were cooking and sewing, and she cherished her family time as a loving mother and wife. She was a resident of Copper Trace Senior Living in Memory Care for the past 6 years. Her sweet smile, sense of humor, kindness and love for others remained prominent throughout her health challenges.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Stanley Hinkle, and first husband, Norman Lingeman. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Larry Lux; daughter, Elizabeth Lux; sisters, Nancy Hinkle and Carol Hinkle Stimac.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 29 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel. A funeral service is at 10:30 am Thursday, June 30 at E. 91st Street Christian Church 6049 E. 91st Street Indianapolis, IN 46250.
