Marlene E. Swan, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on June 15, 2021. She was 85, born to the late Frederick Ragla and Ruth Zerbel (Russell) in Hastings, MI.
Following high school, Marlene went on to pursue her education. She completed her master’s degree and worked in the healthcare field as an occupational therapist. She began her career in New York, then moved to Indiana, where she proudly helped supervise as well as open mental health facilities in Indianapolis, working with children to adults researching medications and substance abuse.
Marlene also coordinated training programs for students at two universities, served as Vice President of the Indiana Occupational Therapy Association, and served on other employer committees. Marlene’s accomplishments were also featured in a local newspaper due to her noble character for helping others and her achievements made within the hospitals.
Marlene is survived by her beloved daughters, Katie Mechuta and Jennifer Wilson; grandchildren Bryant, Paige, Jack, Sam, and Korala; and stepsister Jan Richardson.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth “Bob” Robert, and her sister.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 11-1PM with funeral services to begin at 1PM at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway. Interment to follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
