Marlen Douglas Goad, 89, died March 15, 2011. He was born on April 21, 1921 in Allen County, KY, the son of Sherman and Iva Goad.
Survivors included six of his children; Rosemarie Lane (Larry), Marilyn Beretta (Vic), Douglas Goad (Sue), Yvonne Barton, Sandi Yocum (Victor), and Sherrie Goad. Doug is also survived by seven grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his wife of 64+ years, Pollie A. Goad; a son, Marlen Eugene; sisters, Mae Holloway and Marie Smith; brothers, Robert and Vick Goad.
Doug worked at Chrysler Foundry on Tibbs Ave for 30 years. Around the foundry he was known as Marlen. After retirement he enjoyed playing golf, cards, gardening, and fishing.
Calling will be from noon to 2 pm/et on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. Graveside services will immediately follow.
