Markus "Mickey" Earl Patterson

Markus “Mickey” Earl Patterson 13 August 2026, Carmel, Indiana. Markus Patterson was born to Esmond and Ova Patterson on 16 August 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was the youngest of four children, Jewel, James, and Lyman. His father, Esmond, was a Doctor of Veterinary medicine and practiced in a small office next to their home on South Arlington Avenue. 

Mickey married the love of his life, Amy Ruth Robinson, in Georgia on 18 April 1953 prior to shipping out to the Korean War. They remained married for 69 years. Markus served as an MP and was known for serving ice cream at the checkpoints to the Korean refugees. He never fired a shot during the conflict and came away from the experience a lifelong pacifist. 

Markus came back home and created a successful career in the auto-salvage and antique car business with salvage yards including Eastside Auto Parts, Shelbyville Auto Parts, Mickey’s Auto Parts, and Old Cars for Fun. He retired at the age of 50 but continued to sell cars and parts on a new platform called eBay, and over the next 40 years sold millions of dollars' worth of cars and parts. 

Markus leaves behind three sons, Mark, David and Kevin, five grandchildren, Angie, Robert, Madeline, Megan, and Janelle, and two greatgrandchildren, Ava and Nova. 

Steadfast in his faith, he now joins his wife Ruth who proceeded him in death, May 2022, in heaven.

Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East (10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229) on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 9am to 10:30am, with Funeral Services to immediately follow. A graveside service will be at Washington Park East Cemetery afterwards.
