Paxton Waters of Carmel passed away on June 7, 2026, at the age of 74, after a brief illness. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 10, 1952. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Rosemary Waters, on March 24, 2025.
Paxton and Rosemary married on July 19, 1974 and were inseparable for five decades. Their Carmel home for the last 36 years was where they truly flourished.
Paxton became an architect after graduating from the University of Nebraska. He designed motorsports facilities, including Iowa Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and California Speedway. He met fascinating people and visited interesting places.
Paxton's joys were simple pleasures: grilling out, playing guitar, a round of golf, a good monster movie. Spending time on the front porch with Rosemary and Oscar or relaxing beside the fire was home for him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, caring heart, and steadfast kindness.
He is survived by his son, Ben; his sisters, Julie, Betsy, and Margaret; his brothers, Bill and David; and his dog, Oscar.
A memorial gathering will be held on August 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, located at 325 E. Carmel Dr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
