Mark Henry Schoop, 80, of Munster, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to parents, Allen and Martha Schoop (Beiderwieden).
Mark attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Hammond, IN. He enjoyed his classmates and teachers and stayed in touch with them throughout his life. He graduated from Hammond High School in 1963, and went to work at his father’s restaurant, Schoop’s Hamburgers. He took over the restaurant when his father passed away at an early age and expanded it throughout the country.
Mark married his high school sweetheart, Lois, in 1969. They had two children, Julie and Adam Schoop. Mark loved to entertain friends and family and always had a love of cooking. He also was an avid golfer. He was a member of Woodmar Country Club, and he also was active in the Western Golf Association. Mark was very generous and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Mark was well-known around Northwest Indiana, but also had many friends in Rochester, IN and Vero Beach, FL. He and Lois enjoyed traveling with their many friend groups and loved to entertain family at the lake as well as in Florida for spring break.
Mark is survived by his children, Adam Schoop of Carmel, Indiana, and Julie Wemhoff (Charles), and four grandsons; Connor, Carter, Tyler, and Trevor Wemhoff of Carmel, Indiana; a brother David Schoop (Annelie) of Sioux City, Iowa, sister Martha Krop of Griffith, Indiana, sister in law Diane Gleason (Jon) of Crown Point, Indiana, and brother in law John Lindstrom (Linda) of Naperville, Illinois.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
