Mark Lammers

July 12, 1960 — March 20, 2026

Westfield, IN

Mark Thomas Lammers passed on to eternal life on March 20, 2026, at the age of 65. He was born in Indianapolis on July 12, 1960, to the late Marvin and Mary Jane Lammers. Mark has fond memories of his childhood in Indianapolis with his parents and five siblings. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Elementary School and graduated in 1978 from Chatard High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in education from IUPUI in 1982 and went on to a successful career in sales.

On April 30, 1988, Mark married the love of his life, Kristi (Lee) Lammers, his loving wife of 38 years. She survives.

Mark’s greatest joys in life were his faith, family and friends. He was a devoted and wonderful husband & father. Mark was a devout Catholic and an incredible person. His love for Jesus was evident in all he did. He lived a life of prayer and loving service to others in many ways. He strove daily to follow the teachings of Jesus and was admired and loved by his family and friends for his thoughtfulness to others. He took a genuine interest in others, prayed for people daily and remembered any hardships they were having. He would follow up with texts and phone calls to check on them and offer help.

He participated in various service ministries at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church for over 35 years. Mark served as a Stephen Minister and was a natural at listening, showing empathy and walking with others through their difficult times.

Mark enjoyed coaching CYO basketball and football at OLMC school. He also enjoyed attending other sporting events and activities his children were involved in. Mark was truly an amazing father and had a very close relationship with each one of his children throughout their lives. Mark loved his children and was a very fun dad who created crazy games to play with his kids when they were young. He also was a sports fan and passed on his love of sports to his kids. When his kids were very young and naive, Mark would often casually say something like, “Hey kids, I don’t know if I told you this before, but I used to be a professional golfer and won the Masters three times.“ They would believe him and say, “Wow! Really? That’s cool!” And then would describe his shining moment that led to the big win. Quite an athlete, he also won the Superbowl a few times, the World Series, Olympic medals, you name it. A new neighbor approached Mark at a block party and said, “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you! Your son told me you played in the NBA.”

Mark loved getting together with his 5 siblings and was thankful to be from a big family. He maintained close friendships with each of his siblings over the years, enjoyed socializing with them, and supported them through good times and bad. He also enjoyed socializing with friends and making up trivia games and Name That Tune. He was a very fun and funny guy! Even though in general Mark was a reserved person, not super outgoing or talkative, he had the ability to meet and connect with anyone and everyone. He could initiate and engage in conversation with a stranger and find a connection because he was knowledgeable on many topics including sports, business, history, geography, classical music, the Catholic faith and more. Chatting with a waiter one evening, Mark learned he was from Russia and was a student at the IU School of Music. They discussed Russian music and composers, and Russian literature.

Mark was an avid reader, devouring multiple books each year. He loved planning and going on vacations and had a few planned for his retirement, which he was to begin at the end of this year.

Mark was disciplined and hard-working. At a young age, he worked as a paper boy and later started a grass mowing service with his brother Greg. After college graduation he worked for Wallace Business Forms in sales, and then in sales and sales management at ADP. Over the last 25 years Mark was a successful life insurance agent, and enjoyed his work and the friendships he formed.

Mark’s passing is heartbreaking to all his family and friends. He was diagnosed in the fall of 2025 with prostate cancer. After a few months of treatment, it was discovered his cancer was rare and aggressive. He died within 6 months of the diagnosis.

He is survived by his wife, Kristi; his children, John (33), Luke (28), and Sara Edwards (30) (Turner); and his grandsons, Marshal Edwards (4), Henry Edwards (9 months), and another grandchild on the way. Mark is also survived by his five siblings: Maureen (Joe) Williamson, Jane (John) Heffley, Germaine (Mark) Catton, Bridget (Jack) Vickery, Greg (Leticia) Lammers; brothers and sisters in law, Carl and Lisa Lee, and Kathy and Dana Bell, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, March 26, 2026, 5-7pm Flanner & Buchannan, Carmel, IN. Funeral mass will be Friday, March 27, 2026, 11am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Carmel, with a visitation 10 am at the church.
