Mark Dennis Hogan passed away peacefully on September 26, 2021 just four days short of his 72nd birthday. He is survived by his son, Doug (Jessica) and his brother, Jack Hogan.
Mark was born on September 30, 1949 to John A. and Mildred I. Hogan in Canton Ohio. After the family moved to Indianapolis in 1954, he attended Merle Sidener PS #59 and Broad Ripple HS, graduating in 1967. At BRHS he earned varsity letters in both baseball and basketball. He went on to attend Indiana University where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
Mark was an excellent athlete and is a member of the Indiana Softball Hall of Fame. He was also an exceptional golfer and accomplished the rare feat of making 2 hole-in-ones during the same 18-hole round. He was club champion 7 times at Sahm Golf Course.
Mark had a number of jobs in his adult life, mostly in sales, which fit his engaging personality. In recent years, he suffered from dementia, and lived at Rittenhouse Village in Indianapolis, where he received excellent care. His guardian, Scout Advocacy, was kind, considerate and compassionate making certain his healthcare was well-managed. Josh from Home Helpers was also instrumental in his care.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Contributions in Mark’s memory may be made to First Tee – Indiana, which impacts the lives of young people in a positive way through golf. Contributions may be mailed to 9795 Crosspoint Blvd, Indianapolis, IN 46256 or given through their website firstteeindiana.org.
