Marjorie M. “Midge” Peschau passed away on July 11, 2021 at the age of 96. Midge was born in Indianapolis, IN on May 22, 1925 to parents, George C. and Mary V. (Velsey) McConnell. She attended Butler University and worked as a receptionist during her career. Midge was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church, where she was on the Board of Deacons and was active in the Women’s Association. She was a member and past regent of the Jonathan Jennings DAR. She was also a member of Alpha Theta Latreian, Kappa Kappa Gamma and was a Girl Scout Leader. She volunteered at Coburn Place, The Better Than New shop at the IMA and served on several resident committees at Hoosier Village Retirement Center. Midge was a founding member of the Gnaw Bone Camp Labor Day Family Get Together. She enjoyed a special 48-year “tale of the traveling egg” between her and her son, John.
Midge was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Peschau. She is survived by her children: John E. Peschau (Linda), Peter A. Peschau (Cindy), Katharine B. Marvel (Cornelius Martin), John B. Marvel (Pamela), Kenneth Marvel (Sherry) and Matthew Marvel (Marion); grandchildren, Samantha A. Marvel Jeffries (Christopher) and Thomas O. Marvel (Cory), David Peschau and Katherine Peschau; and great-grandchildren: Brooke E. Jeffries, Charlotte O. Jeffries, Cooper L. Jeffries.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4pm until 7pm on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Fairview Presbyterian Church, 4609 N. Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. Burial will be held privately in Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marjorie’s name may be made to: Coburn Place, Indy Humane or the Benjamin Harrison Foundation.
