Marjean Cole

Jacksonville, Florida

Marjean Cole, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 23rd, 2020. She was born March 5th, 1934 to parents Walter Sr and Mary (Goodwin) Smith.

Marjean graduated from Ben Davis high school. Later in life, she continued her education at Indiana University, where, at age 48, she earned a degree in accounting.

She worked as an auditor at the Indiana Department of Revenue, until retiring in 1997.

On March 18th, 1961, she married the love of her life, Donald Cole. They spent 51 wonderful years together. Don passed away November 27, 2012.

For over 60 years, Marjean was a valued member of Arlington Heights Baptist Church. She served as the church pianist and organist for many, many years and taught Sunday school until she was 85. She had a heart for mission and served as the mission chairman for her church.

Marjean was a lively, loving woman with many interests. In her younger years, she was an impressive artist, specializing in portraits, a wonderful seamstress and a talented pianist. Later in life, Marjean enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved reading. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband.

Marjean adored her family and was proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by her four children: Roxie (Jesus) Gonzalez, Lila (David) Jones, Suzy (Doug) Holman and Kevin (JoLana) Cole;

grandchildren: Samuel Gonzalez, Kasmira (Gary Jr) Dunkle, Ray Witten, Jeremy Witten, Joshua Witten, Harmonie (William) Witten, Serenity (Joe) Turner, Felicity (Joe) Cronin, Isaac (Abby) Jones, Genesis Jones, Amanda (Chris) Fritsch, Nathaniel (Kim) Cave, Ryan Cole and Jason Cole;

great-grandchildren: Thalia Dunkle, Leviticus Britton, Sojourney Britton, Malachi Britton, Disciple Britton, Revelation Britton, Deuteronomy Britton, Independence Britton, Abram Witten, Paxton Turner, Maverick Turner, Leona Cronin, Franklin Jones, Samson Jones, Mercy Cave, Austin Anderson, Lindsey Wright, and Taryn Cave;

one great-great grandchild Alex Zywezki; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marjean is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; and her five brothers: Lloyd, Robert, Paul, Walter, and James Smith.

Services for Marjean will be at Flanner Buchanan- Memorial Park, September 3rd, visitation from 9am-12pm, funeral service at 12pm, with a committal at Memorial Park Cemetery following.
