Marion L. Stanley, 73, Indianapolis, passed away January 31, 2017. He was born April 10, 1943 in Ft. Wayne, IN, the son of Marion Stanley Sr. and Jean (Adamson) Stanley. Marion graduated from Purdue University in 1967 where he obtained a degree in chemical engineering. Following his graduation from Purdue, he attended Indiana University where he received his M.B.A. While working in Huntingdon, PA, he met the love of his life, Karen. Marion and Karen were married in January 1974. Throughout his career, Marion worked in manufacturing, product development and management and marketing for companies, including McDonnell Douglas, where he was part of the Gemini Project, in the chemical tank division of Owens Corning, and several other smaller firms. Marion enjoyed sailing with Karen and other friends in and around destinations such as Greece, Thailand, the Caribbean, and the Great Lakes. He also enjoyed investing in the stock market, reading, woodworking, do-it-yourself projects, working with stained glass, keeping up with politics and glassblowing. Over the years, Marion enjoyed various sports cars and could often be found tinkering with an engine or other mechanical parts. Marion was a great friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen Ellison Stanley; his sister, Susan Dollens (Ronald); his nephew, William Grant Dollens (Sarah); his niece, Stephanie Dollens Pryor (John); and his aunt, Maxine S. Davis. A celebration of Marion’s life will be held on Sunday, February 5 at 11 A.M. at Flanner and Buchanan- Zionsville, 105 W. Pine Street. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 4 from 6-8 PM. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 6 at 12 P.M. at Marco Cemetery in Marco, Indiana. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
