Mario Mathew Salamone

Mario Mathew Salamone, age 92 of Indianapolis, IN died on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. He was born on July 18, 1923 in Indianapolis to the late Charles and Maria (Meloni) Salamone.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Philadelphia during WW II. He retired from the Indianapolis Star-News in 1985 after 35 years of service as a typographer.
He is survived by two sons, David (Sue) and Dennis Salamone; sister, Mary Rose Fisher; granddaughters, Angela and Florence Salamone; sister-in-law, Norma (Parisi) Hendricks; nieces, Karen (Fisher) Firkins and Marcia Fisher and nephew, Lucas Firkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Angela (Parisi) Salamone; son, Douglas Salamone; brother, Frank Salamone and sister, Florence Salamone.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, January 27 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Rd., Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Mr. Salamone’s memory be made to the Indianapolis VA Medical Center General Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan – Market Street.
