Marilyn Sue "Susie" (Smotherman) Hefley, 69, passed away peacefully August 16, 2013 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born September 1, 1943 in Indianapolis the daughter of the late Melvin R. and Mary H. (Riczo) Smotherman.
Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, graduate of George Washington High School. Her career spanned over 40 years at Collins Oldsmobile, Collins Nissan and recently retired from Burd Ford as a Office Manager.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Edward Hefley, (wife-Marci); grandchildren, Jonah and Jadyn; longtime companion, James Boyden and his children, Diane, Joe, and Buffy; siblings, Melvin, Dale, Doug(Billie), Darleen Smotherman, (Indianapolis) Betty Kiwak, (Scottsdale)and Connie (Mark) Henderson, (Reno); nieces and nephews, Doug S. Smotherman, Maci Brown, Kellie Louden, Brenda Dugan, Misty (Chris) Kiwak-Jacobs, Matthew (Crystal) Adams, Mary L. Smotherman-Mortyn, and John Smotherman; two aunts, Wilma Eriksen and Violet Riczo and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Marilyn loved family and life. She believed each day after being diagnosed that God had made it especially for her.
A celebration of Life will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday , August 21, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. with visitation from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.b
In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
