Marilyn J. Hammonds

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn J. Hammonds, 82, of McCordsville, Indiana, on September 3, 2026. Marilyn was born on to parents Robert “Bob” Tryon and Charlotte “Jayne” Tryon (Jeffers) in Terre Haute, Indiana on April 11, 1944.

Marilyn is remembered as a daughter, sister, wife, friend, mother, and a loving and deeply devoted grandma who loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything in the world. Her perfect day would include a round of golf and spending time with any or all of her grandchildren. She loved spoiling her grandkids by taking them to Taylor Bakery, Steak and Shake and a trip to Target. Having her grandkids overnight was her favorite.

Marilyn’s favorite place in the world was Hilton Head Island. Marilyn loved golfing, shopping and taking in the endlessly blue skies. She loved sharing her home there with friends and family.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 41 years, Lynn Hammonds.

Marilyn is survived by children Kim Pritz (Jim), Kevin Gabriel, Nicole Thomas (Butch), and Laura Hammonds; grandchildren Ryan Pritz, Andrew Pritz (Abby), Emily Thomas, Gabe Thomas, Nate Thomas, and so much more than just a niece, Breanna Tryon; great-grandchildren Claire, Henry, and Jude; and siblings Ron Tryon (Tenia), Dan Tryon (Brenda), Steve Tryon (Lisa).

Marilyn will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 20206 at Flanner Buchanan - Geist (7855 Cork Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46236) from noon to 2pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 2pm. A Fellowship Meal will be held at 3pm.
