Marilyn Ann (Davidson) Lawrence, 82, of Plainfield, IN, formerly of Vincennes, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 14, 2012. She was born at home in Indianapolis, IN on November 4, 1929. Her devoted parents were Howard Davidson from Toledo, OH, and Lucile (McComas) Davidson Benefiel from Shelbyville, IN. Marilyn was raised on the near-eastside of Indianapolis and attended Arlington Technical High School graduating in 1946 at the top of her class with an Indiana University business certificate. She was very active in the community, clubs, and athletics. She was also a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. After marrying, Marilyn moved to Vincennes in 1948 and began working as a secretary/bookkeeper for the Welsh & Theriac brokerage and insurance firm. She worked there for eight years before starting a family and her in-home accounting and tax service business. Marilyn truly enjoyed the Vincennes community, especially the people in it, and cherished the friendships it allowed her to form. She was a volunteer and/or member of many clubs and organizations, and a devout member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Marilyn was a very social person and really enjoyed her time spent with friends. She loved playing cards, golf, bowling or just visiting with others. She was known and respected as a person who cared for all with whom she came in contact. Marilyn continued being active and working in the home until moving to Plainfield in 2008 to be closer to her children and family. Marilyn is survived by her loving children, daughter, Jo Ann (Ray) Sporleder of Bloomington, IN, and son, Gregg of Plainfield, IN. She is also survived by three adored grandsons, Neil (Kristina) Rumer of Quincy, WA. Clint (April) Robinson of Bargersville, IN, and Luke Robinson of East Wenatchee, WA; and two beloved great-grandchildren, Haliegh and Jared Rumer of Plainfield, IN. Her ex-husband Gordon "Don" Lawrence of Zephyrhills, FL also survives. She was preceded in death by her dearly missed parents, brother, John Davidson, and sister, Nancy Bush.Marilyn passionately dedicated her life to her family and her beliefs. She believed in loving God, loving others, and loving life. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be donated to the charity of your choosing in Marilyn's name.
