Marie (Johnson) Walz
On April 17 our dear and precious Mom of 95 years passed away comfortably in her home at the Hearth at Windermere. She was born February 5, 1919 in Indianapolis to Robert and Susie Johnson (of Johnson Chevrolet).
Marie was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Purdue University, graduating in 1941. She belonged to Orchard Park Presbyterian Church in Carmel, and made substantial contributions knitting baby outfits and embroidering 'huggy' children's pillows for hospital patients. Marie was a 75-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was very active
in Jobs Daughters and DeMolay and in school organizations with her children. Her long career in apartment leasing and management included Brendonway, 3800 Kessler and Mohawk Hills in Carmel. She loved to travel and play cards with life-long friends. She was enjoyed and loved by all, and her family and everyone who knew her will love and remember her forever.
Marie was preceded in death by her siblings and spouses, Mae (Marion) Ostermyer, Dave (Marie) Johnson, and Paul (Judy) Johnson, and nephews Dan and Ted Johnson. She is survived by her son Jack (Nancy) Walz of Fishers, IN and her daughter, Jan Woodard of Ft Myers, FL, and has 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 great-nieces.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm and 4:00pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Flanner and Buchanan -Oaklawn Memorial Gardens 9700 Allisonville Road. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or to Heartland Hospice, 931 E. 86th Street in her memory.
