Marianne Jean Ross died at the age of 90 on August 21, 2026, in Memory Care at Allisonville Meadows Assisted Living Community in Fishers, Indiana. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 29, 1935. She is Preceded in death by her Loving Husband of 69 years, Samuel Rogers Ross; beloved son, Douglas Anthony Ross; parents, Tony and Libbie Pishan; and sister, Helen Pishan. Marianne is survived by her daughters, Debbie Ross Walk (Philip) and Lis Ross Pennington (Clyde); grandson, Ezra Pennington; granddaughter, Cleo Pennington; and sister, Alice (Pishan) Croner.

She grew up in Brookfield, Ilinois. While attending Purdue University she met the love of her life Samuel Ross. Marianne and Sam were married on January 22, 1956, in Brookfield, Illinois. The Newlyweds lived in San Francisco, California for about 6 months while Sam completed his Term of Active Duty as an Officer in the United States Navy. In 1956 they moved to Denver, Colorado where Sam worked as an Engineer. They lived in Denver, Colorado 22 years while raising their three children. In 1978, the family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where Marianne and Sam lived for the remainder of their long and blessed lives.

Marianne was a devout Catholic. While living in Denver she was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church and served as President of the Church's Ladies Society. She was also a member of Saint Pius Catholic Church and later Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Marianne was a member of the Czech Society in Indianapolis and an active member of the Central Indiana Folk Music Society. Sam and Marianne enjoyed playing a variety of instruments- including the violin, mandolin and dulcimer. She was also a gifted painter creating dozens of beautiful oil paintings. Her paintings depicted beautiful landscapes and captured family memories.

Her greatest Joy was spending time with her Family. She will be remembered for being a Loving and Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and aunt. For Marianne, Family came first. She was a woman of quiet strength, kind and caring, honest and generous, and loyal to all who knew her. She will always be remembered as a very special Lady with a good and kind heart. Marianne lived a long and blessed life on earth as a devout Catholic. Now, as a reward for her unwavering faith she is reunited in Heaven with loved ones since passed.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Marianne's life will take place from 12:00pm-2:00pm, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan - Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Good Shepherd Chapel), 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a memorial service at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
