Marian J. Oakwood

Marian J. Erath Oakwood 86 of Carmel, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013. Marian was born January 26, 1927 in Indianapolis to the late Harold and Crystal Sumner. She retired in 1986 from Indiana National Bank where she had worked as a bank secretary for 21 years. Marian volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital, both 86th Street and Carmel, for over 3000 hours. Marian was a member, elder, choir member and Stephen's minister at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. She sang with dance bands at Westlake and Indiana Roof Ballroom and was a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 4 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. Friends and family are invited to gather from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, June 3 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Marian is survived by her husband, Henry V. "Hank" Oakwood; sons, Donald R. (wife, Elizabeth) and Robert G. (wife, Carol) Erath; grandchildren, Colleen Erath, Amy Recinto, Nancy Joyce, William Erath, James Erath and Donald F. Erath; great grandchildren, Catherine Erath, Ellie Joyce, James Joyce, Kyle Klezmer, Kimberly Erath, Kayleigh Harrison, Braiden Erath and Kaden Presley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Orchard Park Music Department or a donor's favorite charity.
