Maria Clementina Bedoy Hiatt

Maria Clementina Bedoy Hiatt, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Clementina was born June 19, 1923 in Guadalajara, Mexico to the late Exiquio and Petra de Almeida Bedoy. She worked as a restauranteur; in the 1960’s and early 70’s she operated The Mexican Village and The Spanish Villa. Later, she was an optical technician at Edward Schmidt and Son.

Clementina was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and attended St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church. She taught dance for many years at the Hispanic American Center and directed dance for the International Festival. Her true joy was gardening and making wonderful authentic Mexican meals to enjoy with family. Her love of Christ and her strong faith helped her make it through the trials she faced in life. She commented towards the end “I am ready to be with Jesus”.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am Monday, September 12 at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic . Family and friends are invited to gather from 2:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, September 11 at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Conner Suite.

Clementina is survived by her children, Joseph W. Hiatt, Mark A. (wife, Cindy) Hiatt, John E. (wife, Kim R. LaSalle) Hiatt and Toni (Hiatt) Waymire; grandchildren, Michelle “Shelly”, Heather, Kelly, Adam, Erika, Jarrett, John II, Shane, Bradley and Isabella; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Dora Walker; brother, Rudy Bedoy. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sue Hiatt; brother, Pepe Bedoy; sisters, Cata Arana and Lola Hiatt.
