Marguerite C. Scanlon, 95, Fishers, passed away on July 16, 2021. She was born on a farm in Kingstree, SC in October 1925, one of five siblings and outlived them all. Her parents died early and her and her brothers and sisters were raised by their grandfather. After high school, Marguerite moved to Charleston, SC to work. She then moved to Washington, D.C. to attend American University to become a nurse during WW2. She met her husband, William Scanlon, at American University and they married in 1954. Marguerite worked at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. and after getting married, they moved to Indianapolis, where Bill was employed by Eli Lilly. Bill died in 2013, a few months before their 60th wedding anniversary.
Marguerite is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and daughter, Patty Failla, and son-in-law, Jim Drinks.
Survivors include, her daughters, Sue Drinks, Catherine (Henri) Bonne, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
Marguerite was a strong and loving person and a great influence on her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed but her family has wonderful memories and we were blessed to have her with us for so long.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10am to 11am at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 11441 Hague Rd, Fishers, IN 46038. A Nursing Honor Guard Service will take place there at 10:45am with a Mass of Christian Burial taking place at 11am. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
