Margie Jean Estep Cook

Mrs. Margie Jean Cook, 81 of Indianapolis, the matriarch of the Cook family, who was known near and far for her smile, her laughter and love for her family, especially children, passed away at home peacefully Saturday, May 5, 2012, surrounded by her entire family. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her. Margie loved people, she loved to travel and to socialize-she was a member of her beloved euchre club for more than 65 years. Margie maintained her sense of humor and wit throughout her illness. She spent a lifetime encouraging others to live their lives in service to family and community. Margie was born in Indianapolis on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1931 the daughter of Melvin and Bonnie (Stafford) Estep. Margie was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Irvington Order of Easter Star. Margie was also a member of the Indianapolis Symphony Northside group and the Clowes Hall Society. On May 9, 1947 Margie married the love of her life and sweetheart, Carl J. Cook he preceded her in death, June 7, 2005. She is survived by her six children, C. Larry Cook (wife KiCha), Stephen A. Cook, Daniel L. Cook (wife Kimberly L.), Deborah (Cook) Lawler, Thomas J. Cook and Carri L. (Cook) Graf; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, and an hour before service time on Wednesday in the Community Life Center at Washington Park East-10612 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the Community Life Center at Washington Park East. Burial will take place in Washington Park East Cemetery. Margie requested that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Riley Children's Foundation, 30 S. Meridian St. Ste. 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Flanner & Buchanan-10722 E. Washington Street is in charge of arrangements.
