Margaret "Peggy" Arfman Camfield
Peggy, 88, passed away on November 16, 2015. She was born June 13, 1927, in Cincinnati, OH, to Elva "Susie" and Elmer Gerwe. She graduated from Metuchen High School (NJ) and attended the University of Delaware and Katharine Gibbs School in New York. She was married 42 years to Robert Arfman, who preceded her in death. In 1997, she married Eugene Camfield, who survives her.
Peggy will always be cherished by her children Dale Arfman (Debbie); Debbie Arfman White (Mike); and Sarah Arfman Ruddell (Jim). Her son Stephen Arfman (Michelle) preceded her in death. To her 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren she will be affectionately remembered as "Nana". She also leaves behind step-children Michelle Browning (Charlton); William Camfield (Karen); Stephen Camfield; and Thomas Camfield and their families. She will be remembered as the fun-loving sister of Michael Gerwe (Joyce) and Sue Medaris Beard (Charles).
"When she had a will, she had a way" aptly described Peggy's abilities and approach to life. In her life, and in her 45-year long career in business, she was strong in principle, determined in accomplishment and fiercely independent in mind. Even into retirement, she maintained a keen interest and showed great acumen in the workings of the financial world.
Peggy was the essence of a life well-lived. She loved and enjoyed the attention lavished upon her by her family, and greatly returned it. As a family, they spent many vacations, holidays and special moments together. A lover of worldwide travel, Peggys life was greatly enriched by her many journeys abroadoften with family. Peggy loved her pets, especially her cats, and her voracious appetite for reading was trumped only by her avid skill in a game of bridge or euchre.
A celebration of Peggy's life will take place Saturday, November 28, from 12- 2 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) with services and burial following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton County Humane Society. To leave a condolence visit www.flannerbuchanan.com.
