Margaret "Peg" Brummit

Margaret A. (Hadley) Brummit, “Peg”, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024 at her home in Indianapolis at the age of 93. She was born July 27, 1930, to Herschel and Eula Hadley in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, H. Robert Hadley, and husband, Phil Brummit. She is survived by her son, Charles Robert Weesner “Bob”, a step-son, a step-granddaughter, three nieces, a nephew, two great-nieces, a great-nephew, and a sister-in-law.

Peg graduated from Ben Davis High School and Indiana University, where she attained a degree in Music Education and a master’s degree in counseling. Peg taught music in the Lawrence Township School District for almost 40 years. She was also a judge for many music competitions, both instrumental and vocal. Privately, she taught both piano and voice.

Peg was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, IU Chapter, the Indianapolis Symphony Guild, the Mud Creek Players where she performed in several productions, and many other organizations and accomplishments. She was also a lifelong member of First Friends (Quaker) Meeting of Indianapolis.

Anyone desiring to remember her with a charitable donation can send one in her name to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington DC, 20090, in lieu of flowers. She was a great lover of animals, especially horses.
