Indianapolis

On 12/17/1927, Maude and Walter Wiese welcomed a little baby girl into their home. They called her Margaret. Margaret was raised on a farm in Carmel, Indiana area where her father worked as the foreman of this farm. As she grew, she developed a love for the animals that were on the farm. She loved being outside and helping her father with the farm. This family had a huge garden, and she helped her mother and sister can the harvest from the garden. Margaret lived through the depression, but she said that they did not feel the effects because all their food was provided by the garden and the farm animals.

Margaret went to school in Carmel, Indiana. She graduated from Carmel High School. She then went to work in the business office of L S Ayers in downtown Indianapolis. She traveled by bus from Carmel to downtown Indianapolis. After Walter retired from farm work, the family bought and moved to 1243 S Emerson. Margaret continued to work at L S Ayers. She stated that she would not break a $20 bill until the house was paid for. Her sister, Ruby Kathryn, with her husband William Milby bought and lived at 1297 S Emerson. Margaret was very active in helping her sister take care of her three boys, David, Walter and Timothy.

On 07/27/1957 Margaret married Paul Overman. After only a year of marriage this couple became guardians to Margaret’s sister’s children, David, Walter and Timothy Milby. This couple took care of these boys until they moved out of the home. A couple of years later Margaret and Paul started their own family and added three daughters to the mix, Teresa, Violet and Angie. The couple made their home at 1243 S Emerson until the day of their deaths.

Margaret breathed her final breath at the home of her youngest daughter, Angie, on Saturday 27, 2026.
