Margaret E. McAllen, 89 of Indianapolis, died Thursday, September 23, 2010.
She was born September 17, 1921 in Winslow, Indiana to the late William L. and Mabel (Corn) Copeland.
Margaret retired from the State Department of Insurance in 2000 after 19 years of service. Prior to her service to the State of Indiana she was a Life Insurance Agent with Northwestern Mutual and was a Chartered Life Underwriter, a Chartered Financial Consultant and earned a Master’s Degree in Financial Services.
Previously, she was a Registered Nurse, who graduated from Melborn Hospital School of Nursing in Evansville and then served in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps; she was stationed on Tinian when the Atom Bombs were flown from there to Japan.
She is survived by her daughters; Peggy (Michael) Farrar and Tessy Genetos; grandchildren, Bradley (Heidi) Farrar and Colleen and Christopher Gentetos; brother, Jack (Lee) Copeland; one nephew and 5 nieces.
Memorial Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, September 26 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Broad Ripple. Private Services will follow.
