Margaret Emily Zahn, 65, Indianapolis, died March 6, 2022. She was born in Madison, WI to John Joseph Zahn and Nancy Josephine Turgeson. She graduated from Malcom Shabazz High School in 1973 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Purdue University in Indianapolis. Margaret taught statistics at IUPUI for many years and was a working artist. As a certified fused glass instructor, Marge taught kiln-formed glass in the US and Singapore. In 2018, she had a public showing of her kiln-formed glass in Singapore. She was also a prolific fabric artist, working in crochet, embroidery, blackwork, and quilting. She had a keen eye for color, blending, and experimenting with the hundreds of colored pencils and watercolors in her collection. Margaret was a loving and supportive partner to her husband, James, moving with him 17 times over the course of their marriage, living in ten states and four countries. She loved the years they spent in Singapore, Mexico City, and Dubai, making many friends from around the world. Margaret was an avid old movie fan, especially loving pre-code Hollywood movies from the 1920s and 1930s.
Survivors include her father, husband, two sisters, Rebecca and Elizabeth and their children, Daniel, Sarah, Christopher, and Nicholas, and great niece and nephew, Arya, and Alex and others by marriage.
A cenotaph marker will be placed at Basswood Cemetery in Richland County, WI.
