Margaret Elizabeth Plaskett

April 23, 1937 — June 2, 2021

Noblesville, IN

Margaret Elizabeth Plaskett, 84, of Noblesville, IN, passed away on June 2, 2021. She was born on April 23, 1937, in Waterford, MI, to the late Carl Ivan and Maud Agnes Johnson.

Margaret had a wonderful childhood growing up on a lake in Waterford with her two brothers and sister, where they had great fun swimming, sunning, and even getting into some mischief—for example, pulling humorous pranks on their neighbors and coaxing their mom into their igloo fort to have cocoa and cookies.  From her mother, Margaret learned to cook delicious foods and baked the most amazing cookies and pies of all kinds.

Margaret attended Waterford Township High School and graduated at the top of her class at Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit.  Shortly after graduation Margaret married Robert Plaskett.  His career took them from Royal Oak, MI to Jackson MS; Carmel, IN; Kenosha, WI and to Noblesville, IN.

Margaret balanced her home life with her work as a Registered Nurse.  She worked at various doctor’s offices and hospitals, including St. Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha, WI, and Winona Hospital in Indianapolis.  She took great pride in the care she gave to others, including traveling to Guatemala on a mission trip, providing services to teen mothers, and being chief medical consultant to all her family and friends.

She supported her four children enthusiastically in all their sports and interests.  She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and a board member of the school Parent Teacher Organization.

She loved gardening, golfing, and singing in the church choir.  In Indianapolis she was a long-time member of the Second Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir, which included two singing tours of Europe.  In Kenosha, WI she sang in the Carthage Community Chorus and the University of Wisconsin Parkside Master Singers.

Margaret loved exploring.  She and Bob travelled extensively, with the family and together, and visited all 50 states and over 38 countries around the world.

She loved nothing more than playing with her grandchildren. She passed her adventurous spirit and her sense of independent thinking to her children and grandchildren.  She was the central hub of her family and a large network of friends, bringing people together and building wonderful life-long memories.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Robert Plaskett; children, John (Michelle) Plaskett, Ann (Gary) Eld, Joe (Sheri) Plaskett, and Nancy (Mark Yurcheshen) Plaskett; siblings, Robert A. Johnson and Nancy Bass; and grandchildren: Shane, Sydney, Lauren, Kyle, Katherine, Grace, and Emily; and many nieces and nephews.  Margaret is preceded in death by her brother, Carl H. Johnson and her stepfather Ted Blinn.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 10, from 12-2, with funeral service to follow at 2, all at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260. Margaret’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
