Margaret Edwards

Camby, Indiana – Margaret Edwards, 91, has gone home to Heaven after being encircled in love by her family and friends. The ideal mother, Margaret’s love and devotion to all who knew her will be deeply missed.

Margaret was born on August 23, 1934, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents George & Thelma Louise (Biech) Wise. She was married to Robert Turner, with whom she had five adoring children. She later married Charles Edwards on June 20, 1981, and they remained happily married until his passing on February 2, 2008.

Margaret went to work at a young age, spending over 30 years at Western Electric. She worked in many roles until retiring as a layout operator, work that she was extremely proud of. While she found pride in her work, Margaret’s true joy in life was always her family. Even while working full-time, she raised five children, nieces and nephews and became a neighborhood mom, taking anyone who needed her into her home and made them feel like family. From the Brightwood neighborhood to the many friends throughout her life, once you became a part of Margaret’s family, you never left her heart.

Margaret enjoyed spending time with family and friends and putting together puzzles. She was extremely skilled in crocheting and made beautiful doilies, dresses, blankets, toys, and other decorative items for her loved ones. Margaret will be remembered for so many wonderful things, her unwavering faith, her beautiful smile, strength of character and resilience but most importantly through the incredible legacy she leaves behind with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Charles Edwards, son Paul Allen Turner, daughter Janet Lynn McCreary, son in law Kenneth Griffin, grandson Kenny Griffin, and siblings Mary Lou Thomas, Clara Jane Haddix, and Marsha Passwaiter.

She is survived by her children Brad Turner (wife Denise), Robert “Bob” Turner, June Griffin (Turner); daughter in law Joan Turner, and brother Chris Johns; as well as 51 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and many more friends who became family.

Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229) on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 4 pm – 8 pm with A Rosary Prayer starting at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11 am, also at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Burial will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery following services.
