Margaret, the eldest of 11 children, was born December 10, 1934 in Russel Springs, Kentucky to Granville Perry Johnson and Mary Frances (Irwin) Johnson. Margaret enjoyed bowling in her younger years, canning fruits and vegetables, and had a passion for quilting. She made quilts for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and many friends. Margaret generously made and donated baby quilts to a foster care program at her church for the foster children. Once relocating to Indianapolis at the age of 16, Margaret worked at the historical Virginia Grille where she ultimately met her husband.
