Malcolm Hawkins

Malcolm "Mike" Randall Hawkins 86 of Home Place, Hamilton County, passed away February 1, 2013 after an extended illness. Mike was born January 25, 1927 in Boone County, IN, son of the late Roe and Edith (Clements) Hawkins. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he was employed 41 years for one company and had several part-time positions up to the time of his death. In 1997, Mike was awarded the prestigious ROSE award by the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association was honored with a lifetime achievement award for enhancing the city's reputation for tourism. Mike is survived by his wife Mary of 66 years, survived by his children: Julianne (Larry Mund, Kristina (George) Stappas, Melanie (Jerry) Johnson, Andrea Hawkins, Andrew Powell, Kevin (Jeanne) Hawkins and Brian (Lisa Hawkins, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Flanner and Buchanan –Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd., on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 9 am till service at11 am. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46218, or Funding Research in Memory of Malcolm R. Hawkins.
