Lynn Kay (Mannon) Wilhoite, 84, passed away on March 21, 2026, on a bright sunny Spring day. She was the daughter of Rondal Marquis and Ruth Pauline (Tucker) Mannon, born on September 29, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a 1959 graduate of Ben Davis High School, and she attended Franklin College. On September 24, 1960, she married Wallace Edgar Wilhoite at the Speedway United Methodist Church. From that union came Cynthia Kay (Ron) Beilke and Randall Edward Wilhoite. Along with her husband and children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Mallory and Evan Beilke. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, James Mannon.
When she left for college, Lynn aspired to be a nutritionist. Life had a different plan, and Lynn’s love of her husband and children guided her to become a homemaker. She was the consummate stay at home mother and wife, participating in school and scouting activities and supporting her Wally’s business ventures. Later when the children were older, she pursued her love of travel. The highlight of her travels was a two week trip to Europe. To support the travel bug, Lynn returned to the workforce as a librarian at the Speedway Public Library. That forged several close friendships over reading and family values. Lynn and Wally were avid musical lovers and were season ticketholders to Starlight Musicals.
Lynn’s passion was cooking and preparing tasty meals for her family. She loved to experiment with new recipes, cooking techniques and the latest kitchen gadgets. She was particularly fond of her Oster kitchen center which was superseded by the Cuisinart food processor! She loved Julia Child – and would often imitate her while cooking.
Lynn’s life was led by quiet strength, simple abundance and, most of all, love. We will miss her deeply.
