Lynda L. Durnil
75, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home May 15, 2015. She was born July 8, 1939 to the late Earl and Mae (Hoover) Powell. A 1957 graduate of Thomas Carr Howe H.S., she attended Indiana University. The loving mother of two children, she was employed by the Indiana Secretary of State and State Treasurer, etc. She served as Indiana Vice President of Riley Cancer Research for Children, a charity that raised funds for cancer research at Riley Hospital. She, through RCRC, was instrumental in bringing the Ronald McDonald House to Indiana. She was pre-deceased by her sister Betty Combs and her parents. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gordon K. Durnil; son Guy (Susan) and daughter Cynthia (Mark) Frew; grandchildren Jeff Reed and Sarah Reed; two great grandchildren, Oliver Reed and Calloway Reed, and her sisters Janet (John) Kendall and Deanna Wilshire. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate financial contributions to the Indiana Ronald McDonald House.
