Lura Elizabeth "Betty" Simpson Dunham
83, Indianapolis, passed away February 9, 2013. She was born January 13, 1930, the daughter of the late Edwin and Goldie (Lehr) Simpson.
Betty lived her life with a passion to care for and entertain others. Her house was always full of celebrations with family and friends. She was an avid college basketball fan with an intense dedication to IU (including Bob Knight through thick and thin). She also enjoyed an affiliation with the Indianapolis 500 through her 32 year friendship with Tom Carnegie and hosted many events at her home for race drivers.
She was cared for by the wonderful staff of Hooverwood for the last 18 months and shared her life long stories with many residents and staff.
She is survived by her Children: Deborah Kercheval, MD; Judy Eppich, David Dunham, Christine Cook (Kevin), Grandchildren; Stephanie Daily (Kerry); Marcia Eppich-Harris PhD (Aric); Alexander Kercheval (Natalie); , Arthur Nisnevich, Steven Higbee (Halle); Ashley Eppich; Christopher Higbee, Samantha Jo Dunham. Three Great-grandchildren: Kameron Dreesen, William Logan and Kai John Eppich-Harris. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Dunham, sons Mark Dunham, Danny Dunham, Joe Dunham and daughter Jeanne Dunham.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1827 Kessler Boulevard East Drive. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013, at Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hooverwood Guild.
