Luella Jane Meredith Phelps
87, of Indianapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, March 25, 2012. Born in Louisville, KY, July 16, 1924.
Mrs. Phelps was the daughter of Robert and Virginia Meredith who moved their family to Southern Indiana in the late 1920's. The Merediths were railroaders and farmers.
Mrs. Phelps graduated from Sandcreek High School in Decatur County. She worked at Cummins Diesel in Columbus, Indiana and later moved to Indy and became executive secretary at LindeAire Corp. in Speedway.
Mrs. Phelps was married to the late Kenneth D. Phelps for 63 loving prosperous years. Mr. and Mrs. Phelps owned and operated Phelps Heating and AC Inc. for over twenty five years. Mrs. Phelps also owned numerous real estate holdings in Marion and Hendricks Counties.
Mrs. Phelps loved house boating at Lake Cumberland and water skied until she was 75 years old. She also was an avid Indiana Pacers fan, owning season tickets since 1970 thru this 2012 season.
Mrs. Phelps was known as a hardworking, honest, business woman, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She touched many hearts and helped many people. God and Mr. Phelps are getting their angel back.
She is survived by son Mike (Carolyn) Phelps, daughters Pat (Gary) Huff and Joella (Bob) Ripberger, brother Robert Meredith, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren with 2 more to be born this summer.
She was preceded in death by husband Kenneth and grandson Troy Tefteller.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway. Services will be Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11 am at the funeral center. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
