Lowell R. Goodwin

Lowell R. Goodwin, 83 of Carmel, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Lowell was born September 17, 1927 in Muncie to the late Lowell R. and Olive (Dunn) Goodwin. In October of 1933, his family was involved in a train/car accident in Muncie. His parents and siblings were killed in the accident. Lowell was a graduate of Selma (IN) High School where he played basketball, baseball, and ran track. He attended Ball State University and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War era. Lowell was a salesman for Standard Register for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Carmel United Methodist Church and the Carmel Golden “K” Kiwanis. He was also a former Boy Scout leader and youth baseball coach. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 13 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Carmel, where friends and family are invited to visit from 11:00 until the time of the service. Burial is to follow at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery. Lowell was the widower of Lois Humbert Goodwin, who passed on November 27th, 2009. They were married on April 8th, 1950 and moved to Carmel in 1955 from Muncie. He is survived by his two devoted sons, Donald and his wife Wanda of Noblesville and Steven and his wife Debra of Corvallis, OR; and his two loving grandchildren, Russell and Julie Goodwin. Also surviving is sister-in-law Annabell Epperson of Muncie; niece Elin Epperson, and nephew Mark Epperson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carmel Golden “K” Kiwanis (c/o Don Fields, 121 1st Ave NW, Carmel, IN 46032) or Carmel United Methodist Church (621 S. Rangeline Rd, Carmel IN 46032).
