Lowell Plake, of Indianapolis passed away on March 2, 2022 at the age of 86 surrounded by loving family.
He was born June 26, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Clifford E. and Elizabeth June (Richardson) Plake.
Lowell grew up on southside of Indianapolis near Fountain Square and was graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. He served in the Army at Ft. Myer, VA at the HQ of the 3rd United States Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) who are known for guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He was a lifelong employee of Sears Roebuck & Co., working in many capacities of both management and sales and was at the opening of stores in Eagledale Plaza and Greenwood Park. He enjoyed working on automobiles and fixing almost everything himself and was never far from one of his many Craftsman tools. He also enjoyed his part-time gig for many years as a skate guard at the Beech Grove Roller Dome. He loved to travel, listen to music, dance and spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol F. Plake, three children: Tom Plake (Julie) of Carmel, Betty Scheil (Jay) of Indianapolis, and Jennifer Lagle (Jason) of Beech Grove; and 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife Therese (Rhoads) Plake, and two sisters, Donna Snelling and Sandra Watkins.
A visitation will be held Monday, March 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229. Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 8 at 1 p.m. preceded by visitation from 12pm to 1pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East with entombment to follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
