Louise Stebbing

December 1, 1918 — September 27, 2014

Louise Fenner Stebbing, 95, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014. She was born to the late Charles H. and Elizabeth Guild Fenner on December 1, 1918 in Indianapolis and lived here all her life. After graduation from Shortridge High School, she attended Butler University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and made many abiding friendships there that continued throughout her lifetime. She married the love of her life, Roy Stebbing, Jr. on October 3, 1939. Their daughter, Cynthia, survives. Roy and Louise were members of First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church, where Roy was a Deacon and an Elder and Louise was active in the Women's Organization and Bible Study Group. She was privileged to be included in the Renaissance Group at Meridian Street United Methodist Church and participated in many of that church's events, also. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed researching her family's genealogy. She and Roy loved traveling and collecting mementos of their trips around the world; they shared a love of their home, garden and collecting and making stained glass. They had been members of Hillcrest Country Club, the Columbia Club, the Athletic Club, and the Riviera Club. The Family would like to thank especially Louise's outstanding, devoted caregivers, Pat Beasley and Rhonda Palmer; her kind-hearted friend, Jody Clay; the excellent staff at American Village; and her wonderful neighbors for their many years of faithful, loving care. They all made it possible for her to live comfortably for so many years. She was preceded in death by many members of her beloved family: including her parents, sister Caroline Fenner Craig, brother James Fenner, husband, Roy Stebbing, Jr., and her son-in-law, Robert Chase Lewis. Survivors include: daughter Cynthia Stebbing Lewis; grandson, Robert P.C. Lewis; niece Elizabeth Craig (Graham) Fox; nephew, Thomas C. Craig; and Bob Lewis' daughter, Amanda Lewis Louden and her four children. Calling will be at Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple, on Friday, October 3, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, followed immediately by a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church (4701 N. Central Ave., Indianapolis 46205) or Meals on Wheels (P.O. Box 40969, Indianapolis 46240).
