Louise Irene Erwin, aged 75, died peacefully with her family gathered near her on September 8th, 2015 at her home in Lebanon, Indiana, after a 14 year struggle with cancer. Louise was born May 25th, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois; the daughter of William Carl Dittmer and Rissa Mae Bowser.
Louise thoroughly enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her four grandchildren.
In 1959, Louise married the love of her life, Richard David Erwin (Dick). They lived most of their married life in Northwest Indiana. Dick taught high school, while Louise worked around the clock rearing their three children. When asked what their secret was, Dick would reply, 'Louise'.
As their children aged, Louise returned to the workplace until she and Dick retired in the early 1990's. Louise and Dick enjoyed traveling and spending quiet evenings together.
Louise is survived by her husband of 56 years, her children Richard, Robin and Randi, and her four grandchildren.
There will be a private gathering for family members and friends at the Oaklawn Memorial Garden in Indianapolis, IN. on Saturday, September 12th, 2015 from 1-4pm. We will gather in the Good Shepherd Chapel. All are welcome to attend. This will not be a formal gathering but a chance to share stories and warm embraces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
