Indianapolis

MR. LOUIS OWSLEY the son of Dorothy Wills of Indianapolis and Louis E. Owsley of Indianapolis, was born April 17, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Louis along with his immediate family was a member of Psalms Missionary Baptist Church.

Louis was dedicated to helping family and friends, often being called upon to make repairs of some sort, or to give guidance to a young man or woman entering the truck driving business, he was never too busy to help. Louis loved his career as an over-the-road truck driver, later ending his career as an owner operator driving locally to be near family.

Having the opportunity to travel to many different states he would often say “The Lord has blessed me to travel through His garden.”

Louis worked hard but he also played hard. He enjoyed hosting family and friends’ gatherings at his home, always providing enough food to feed a small army. He loved his music, especially Uncle Charlie (Charlie Wilson) but his theme song was “Family Reunion” by the O’Jays. When Louis enjoyed an evening out, he entered the room in style, always sharply dressed from head to toe with his signature cowboy boots, timepiece and brim. He loved fishing, watching football, but more than anything, he loved spoiling his two granddaughters. “Pa-pa” as he was known, took great joy in shopping for his grandchildren, cooking large meals and showering them with monetary means.

Louis's undeveloped dreams were either to open a recreational center for boys to provide mentoring and support for underprivileged young men or open a restaurant, specializing in hot dogs, tagging the name “Daddy Dogs”.

Louis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Percy and Rosemary Owsley, father-in-law, James Thomas Booker, son, Brandon RemingtonTaylor, nephew, Julian Smith, cousins Ronn Watkins and Lamont Dumas.

Louis leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kimberly Owsley, son Joshua Taylor (Jasmine), granddaughters Jaylee and Jaylin Taylor, his mother Dorothy Wills, his dad Louis E. Owsley (Judith), sister, Wanda Smith-Ferrell (Mark), sister, Tanya L. Owsley-Buck (Charles), sister, LaKeesha Braston, brother, Tony L.
