His service extended to the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), where he worked the state championships for football and swimming for many years.

Beyond his devotion to sports, Lou was a steadfast supporter of his family. He loved attending his daughter Kathy’s softball games, coaching her teams for many years, and was always eager to gather for dinner at Kristy’s, especially when it included St. Elmo’s famous shrimp cocktail. Lou and Mary traveled many miles to attend games, and swim meets of their grandchildren always enjoying seeing them play.

A true lover of the outdoors, Lou had a deep passion for fishing. He spent countless hours tinkering in the garage, often working on his fishing boat, which he had personally renovated. Lou also had a knack for fixing up vehicles and was especially proud of an old brown-and-white VW bus that he restored himself. He enjoyed camping and cherished the time spent with his dogs.
