Louis James “Louie” Contos, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017.
Louie was born on July 25, 1921 in San Pedro, CA to the late George A. and Modesta (Sepulveda) Contos. He was a 1939 graduate of San Pedro High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. It was during his service while stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison, that Louie met and married the love of his life, Christine Settles. They celebrated 73 years of wedded bliss before her recent death on November 1, 2016. Louie was a self-employed truck driver for many years, and later in life, enjoyed working part time for the IMS, Pacers and Penske. Louie was an avid collector of trains and a master of crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his children, Patricia (Hunter) Rackley and Steven (Katherine) Contos; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren. Louie was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 1 sister. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Harris; and wife, Chris Contos.
Visitation for Mr. Contos will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East from 3-5pm. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 12noon, with visitation 1 hour prior, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
