LOUELLA E. CURTIS 94, passed away in Charlotte, NC on September 3, 2015 after a long and blessed life.
Born January 2, 1921 in Atlanta, GA to Adolphus McDaniel and Junia Moore, she moved to South Bend, Ind where she attended elementary and high school before returning to Atlanta where she attended Spelman College. She married Felix D. Curtis in 1942 and settled in South Bend, Indiana and had a son Felix Clark. She was an excellent pianist who played and directed the Senior and Men's choir of the First AME Zion Church of South Bend until she and her spouse moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1960. It was there that she became an accomplished quilter winning several awards for her work.
She and her spouse travelled though out the United States and abroad for many years before she became president of her housing association at Kingston Square Apartments. In her later years and after the death of her spouse she moved with her son to Charlotte, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Juanita Mason and brother-in- law Alvin Mason and her husband of 64 years Felix D. Curtis.
She is survived by her son Felix C. Curtis and daughter-in-law Cheryl Curtis, grandchildren Tamu Imani Curtis and Bomani Akinyele (Karla) Curtis and great grandchildren Tamia and Jacob Curtis.
