Lottie B. Johnson

February 15, 1938 — May 20, 2024

Lottie Mae Bronson-Johnson (also known as “Auntie”) was born on February 15, 1938, to the union of Hattie and Harris Bronson, Sr. in Byhalia, Mississippi. She was youngest sister of 6 siblings and represented the last surviving member of her generation until God called her home on Monday, May 20, 2024.

Lottie was raised in a faith-based home and received Christ at an early age. She received her formal education in Byhalia and enjoy sports activities, such as football, basketball and baseball.

Lottie spent most her adult life in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Louis, Missouri and Indianapolis, Indiana. She dedicated 40 years working at Indianapolis based Winona Memorial Hospital and Clarian Health Partners, healthcare facilities, and retired in 1998. She was previously married to William Johnson (deceased).

Lottie was a faithful 38-year member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending Wednesday morning bible study and Sunday for all services! She was a previous member of the senior usher board. She enjoyed spending her retirement days spending time with her family, gardening and socializing with her neighbors.

Lottie truly loved her family and friends always had time to listen to everyone’s concerns. Her motherly and nurturing qualities had a positive effect on all. Our “auntie” Lottie was the Fox family matriarch. She was magnetic but also cool, a woman of strength, courage, independence and faith. She was a comforter when tears overflow, the bearer of good news, when all hope was lost, when your heart was broken, she was a guiding light, a safe harbor, a beacon of hope and solid foundation for those around her and will live inside our hearts forever.

Lottie was a woman of great warmth, patience and kindness. Her open and gregarious nature put her patients and family at ease. Lottie took excellent care of herself mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically, and she never missed an opportunity to help others take care of themselves. She was an adventurous bargain shopper for antiques and jewelry.

Lottie departed this earthly live on May 20, 2024. She lived her life with sincerity, integrity and gratitude and will be missed by those who know her well. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings (T.H. Bronson, Sr., James Brounson, Harris Brounson, Jr. Jettie M. Martin, and Mamie Tenniel).

She leaves to cherish her memory her two surrogate caregivers Kim L. Shackelford and Mary L. Bronson; one brother-in-law John Johnson (Margaret); one sister-in-law; Marriah Brounson; and a host of nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews, cousins.
