Loretta Mary (Lungren) Vestermark, 76, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister and cherished friend passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026 in Carmel, IN. Loretta fought a courageous battle against stage 4 cancer for over eight months. She often stated that she could not have done it without her deep Catholic Faith and all of her loving family. Loretta was born on January 29, 1950 in Long Beach, California to parents, Dr. John Charles Lungren and Lorain (Youngberg) Lungren.

Loretta attended St. Barnabus Catholic Grammar School, Marymount High School and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN in 1972. Loretta met her husband, Gary 1975, after being set-up by her brother Dan. They were married on January 10, 1976.

Loretta and Gary settled in Laguna Niguel, CA where they had their two sons, Dean and George. Gary continued to practice law, and Loretta’s love for racquet sports began as she took up tennis. Additionally, Loretta had a real estate practice and started a custom knitting business.

The family relocated to Indiana in 1995. Early on during their transition, Loretta began working as an office manager for a notable plastic surgeon in Indianapolis. This was the beginning of what ultimately became a twenty-five year career in private practice management, including Midwest Regional Manager of Vein Clinics of America followed by more than a decade as Practice Director of My Plastic Surgery Group in Carmel.

Loretta retired in 2022 to be able to spend more time as Nana for her three adorable grandchildren. Loretta was a lifelong learner and took up many new passions and hobbies. In addition to cooking and gardening, Loretta became a crochet extraordinaire which she learned to do on youtube. She loved to make stuffed animals for her grandkids, and knit blankets and pillows for friends and family. Loretta loved to host friends and family for her fabulous dinner parties.

After their retirements, Gary and Loretta became Holy Spirit Eucharistic Ministers for the homebound, joined the bible study group and started playing pickleball at their Holy Spirit Parish at Geist.

Through three courageous battles with cancer, her faith never wavered. Loretta considered her grandchildren her most precious gift. She dearly loved and was devoted to Our Blessed Mother whom she would say guided her through the hardest of times. Her numerous nieces and nephews will miss her and will forever remember their wonderful Aunt Loretta ‘s example of faith, love and perseverance.

Loretta is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gary, her sons, Dean and George (Caitlin), grandchildren, Will, Joe and Julia, brothers, Dan (Sandi) and Brian (Nancy) Lungren, sisters, Christine Maddalone (Ray), Patricia Volpe (Mark), Elizabeth Lungren. Loretta was pre-deceased in death by her brother, John, sister-in- law, Bobbie Lungren and parents, John and Lorain Lungren.

Visitation for Loretta will be from 10a-11am on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist – 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN 46037, with a funeral mass immediately following at 11am. There will be an intimate graveside service where Loretta will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
