Lorenzo Olvera Benítez, son of Rosaura and Mario Olvera Benítez, husband to Ines Gutierrez; father of 3 to Rosaura, Esmeralda, and Gabriel; grandfather of 6, and great grandfather to 2. He lived his life dedicated to pursuing the things of Christ and furthering his ministry from being a pastor and missionary in Mexico, worship leader in California, and deacon and teacher in Indiana. He and his wife had shared their lives for 52 years; caring for each other since they fell in love in Penjamo, Guanajuato and married in 1972. They spent their days laughing and poking fun at each other, as well as praying over their loved ones every day. Their deep love was evident in the way that he constantly looked out for her wellbeing, and she continually reminded him to rest. He was a father that always had his arms wide open for his children when they needed comfort; and cared more for them and his family than himself. Whether it be giving words of wisdom, reminding you of how proud he was, or making you smile with a silly joke, you could always count on him for anything.
In his last days he continued to do all of these things, until June 8, 2024; where he spent his last moments in his home and passed swiftly and peacefully. His heart had been having trouble for months, and on that day, God decided to finally bring His son home. He is missed dearly by family and friends alike. A testament to the many lives he enriched and impacted over the years. His life was one full of love and happiness; and because of that we can have peace knowing that God has told him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord” Matthew 25:23.
